Chipola Softball Sweeps Tallahassee

Chipola swept Tallahassee Community College at home on Friday in versatile fashion.

The No.4 state ranked Lady Indians shutout the No.6 state ranked Lady Eagles 6-0 in game one then rallied in the seventh inning for a 3-2 game two victory.

In game two, Chipola (33-8, 7-1) won on a walk-off with two outs in the bottom of the seventh when Madison Ragan's fly ball on a 2-1 pitch was dropped in the outfield by Shelby Manns, scoring Ciara Jones to end the game.

Chipola was ahead 2-0 before Tallahassee tied the game up with doubles by Kiara Jones in the fourth and Brianna Tourtillott in the seventh. After allowing the tying run, Ragan struck out Kayla Boucher and grounded out Karley Yeager to end the top of the seventh.

Ragan relieved Illona Andringa, going the final 3.12 innings and striking out three. Andringa recorded five strikeouts in her outing on the mound.

Chipola scored a run apiece in the second and third innings. Courtney Davis tripled to drive in Jenna Reeves then Shelby Clark scored on a stolen base.

In game one, Chipola pitcher Jessica Elliott threw a complete-game two hitter with 13 strikeouts. Leading 6-0 in the seventh inning, Tallahassee loaded the bases while down to their final out but Elliott fanned Taesha DuBoise to wrap up the win.

Gabriella Santos' RBI double brought home Reeves for the first score of the game in the bottom of the second. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the third, Reeves hit a single over the first base line, scoring Clark to make it 2-0.

A four-run fifth inning sealed the victory for Chipola. Ragan doubled and Reeves singled for two runs. Then Ragan scored a run on a chase down of Reeves and Davis singled to bring in Gabriella Santos, who tripled early in the inning.

Chipola plays next in a doubleheader next Friday at home against Northwest Florida State at 4/6:00 p.m.
