Indians walk-off to beat Gulf Coast in 13 innings

On Tuesday night, #10 Chipola College (25-9, 6-3 PC) defeated Gulf Coast State College (18-10, 3-2 PC) in 13 innings with a two out walk-off hit to win the game, 6-5. 

The Commodores used a pair of doubles and errors to score three runs in the top of the second inning, taking the first lead of the game ahead 3-0.

Alfonso Villalobos started off the second inning with a single and Paxton Tomaini doubled to put runners on second and third. Lyle Miller-Green brought in Villalobos to score the first run for the Indians. With one out, Zac Rice singled to score Tomaini and cut the Commodores lead to 3-2. 

The Commodores managed to get runners on first and third in the sixth inning and with one out singled to extend their lead to 4-2.

Following a lead-off walk and wild pitch in the top of the eighth inning, the Commodores used a two out single to make the score, 5-2. 

In the bottom of the eighth, the Indians would answer as Cesar Franco reached on an error and advanced to third on a double by Andre Tarver. Franco scored on a sacrifice fly from Alfonso Villalobos; Tarver would score on an error off the bat of Paxton Tomaini, cutting the deficit to 5-4. 

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Cameron Gray doubled with one out. Cesar Franco would move Gray to third on a deep fly out to centerfield. With two outs and two strikes, Andre Tarver singled up the middle to tie the game at 5-5 and take it to extra innings. 

After a lead-off double from Matthew Garcia, consecutive one out walks would load the bases for the Indians in the bottom of the thirteenth innning. With two outs, Alfonso Villalobos singled to left to bring in Garcia and win the game 6-5. 

Bo Bonds entered the game in the tenth inning and threw four no-hit innings while striking out nine batters to record his first win of the season. 

Drew Howard threw 1.1 innings holding the Commodores hitless in the eighth and ninth inning. 

Andrew Baker started the game and pitched 5.1 innings allowing two earned runs and striking out 8.

Andre Tarver finished the game 3-for-6 with a double and RBI. 

Alfonso Villalobos was 2-for-6 with two RBI, including the game-winning hit. 

On Thursday the Indians will host Gulf Coast State College at 5PM for the second game of the conference series before traveling to Gulf Coast for the Saturday doubleheader.
