Indians Split Doubleheader with Grand Rapids

The Indians split in today's doubleheader with Grand Rapids. 

On game one, Chipola cruised to an easy 11-1 victory. 

Dylan Eskew took the win for the Indians. He went six innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Troy Hodges took the loss for Grand Rapids. He went three and a third innings, allowing nine runs on ten hits, striking out one and walking one.

Chipola racked up 14 hits in the game. Isaiah ByarsDaniel CerdaCorey Rosier, and Taylor Clapp each had multiple hits for the Indians. ClappRosierCerda, and Byars each managed two hits to lead Chipola. 

In game two, Chipola stayed in it until the end, but Grand Rapids pulled away late in a 4-2 victory. The game was tied at one with Grand Rapids batting in the top of the eighth when an error scored one run for Grand Rapids.

Chipola lost despite out-hitting Grand Rapids eight to six.

Grand Rapids evened things up at one in the top of the seventh inning when Bo Bonds threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Grand Rapids.

Cheslek led things off on the hill for Grand Rapids. He lasted seven and a third innings, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out four.

Robert Bennett was on the hill for Chipola. He went four innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out three and walking one. Bonds and Daniel Cerda entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three and a third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

The Indians scattered eight hits in the game. Corey Rosier and Andre Tarver each collected multiple hits. Rosier led Chipola with three hits in four at bats.

Grand Rapids tallied six hits in the game. Cheylek and Aaron West each managed multiple hits for Grand Rapids.

The two teams are back in action at Chipola tomorrow for a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
