Indians Win Back to Back National Championships

The Chipola Indians won their second-straight NJCAA National Championship tonight with a 10-7 victory over Walters State.

The game was tied at six with CHIPOLA Indians batting in the top of the seventh when Jared Howell singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

CHIPOLA Indians collected 12 hits and Walters State had 12 in the high-scoring affair.

Walters State took an early lead in the second inning. Gilliand homered on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Walters State tied things up at six. Carey hit a solo homer.

CHIPOLA Indians tallied four runs in the sixth inning. CHIPOLA Indians big bats were led by Max GuzmanJordan Hollins, and David Meadows, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Andrew Grogan was the winning pitcher for CHIPOLA Indians. He allowed six hits and three runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking zero. Phillip Sanderson and Howell entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.Sanderson recorded the last six outs to earn the save for CHIPOLA Indians.

Alford started the game for Walters State. He allowed four hits and five runs over five innings, striking out five. Lehman and Gillian entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two and a third innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.

Jack Dellinger started the game for CHIPOLA Indians. He surrendered three runs on five hits over one and one-third innings, striking out three and walking one

CHIPOLA Indians tallied one home run on the day. Edmond Americaan had a dinger in the eighth inning.

CHIPOLA Indians saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game. GuzmanMorgan McCulloughAmericaan, and Howell all collected multiple hits for CHIPOLA IndiansGuzmanled CHIPOLA Indians with three hits in five at bats.

Walters State racked up 12 hits. HenryHarrisCarey, and Pence each collected multiple hits for Walters State. Henry went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Walters State in hits.

The Indians finish the year 49-17 with Panhandle Conference, Region VIII/FCSAA, and NJCAA titles.
