Indians Win Back to Back FCSAA Championship

Chipola defeated Hillsborough 5-0 in today's NJCAA Region VIII/FCSAA championship game, earning a second-straight trip to Grand Junction. 

Phillip Sanderson didn't allow a single run and allowed just three hits.

CHIPOLA Indians got things moving in the first inning, when Max Guzman homered on a 3-0 count, scoring three runs.

A single by Lavastida in the first inning was a positive for Hillsborough.

Sanderson was credited with the victory for CHIPOLA Indians. He surrendered zero runs on three hits over nine innings, striking out six.

Velez toed the rubber for Hillsborough. He went two and a third innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out two. Sellers and Carter entered the game as relief, throwing four innings and one and two-thirds innings respectively.

CHIPOLA Indians hit one home run on the day. Guzman went for the long ball in the first inning.

Austin Bates went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead CHIPOLA Indians in hits.

Hillsborough didn't commit a single error in the field. Soliveres had four chances in the field, the most on the team.
