Holloway Pitches Complete Game, Leads Indians to Victory

Chipola defeated Walters State 8-6 tonight to stay alive at the JUCO World Series.

Trevor Holloway pitched a complete game and went nine innings, allowing six runs on nine hits, striking out ten and walking zero.

The game was tied at six with CHIPOLA Indians batting in the top of the eighth when Francisco Urbaez homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

A five-run lead in the sixth inning was just enough for CHIPOLA Indians to hold off Walters State for the victory. Walters State scored five runs in the failed comeback on a error, a home run by Henry, and a home run by Gentry.

CHIPOLA Indians got things started in the first inning. Urbaez hit a solo homer.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Walters State tied things up at six when Gentry hit a solo homer.

CHIPOLA Indians put up four runs in the third inning. Alex Webb and Julio Carrion all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Knack was on the mound for Walters State. He allowed seven hits and five runs over three innings, striking out one and walking one. Thigpen and Brewer entered the game from the bullpen, throwing five innings and one inning respectively.

CHIPOLA Indians smacked four home runs on the day. Edmond Americaan went deep in the sixth inning. Carrion had a homer in the third inning. Urbaez put one out in the first and eighth innings.

CHIPOLA Indians racked up 13 hits. UrbaezMax GuzmanAmericaanCarrion, and Jared Howell all collected multiple hits for CHIPOLA IndiansUrbaez led CHIPOLA Indians with three hits in five at bats.

Walters State collected nine hits on the day. Gilliand and Carey all managed multiple hits for Walters State. Gilliand went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Walters State in hits.

With the win, there was a coin toss between Chipola and Walters State to determine who got tomorrow's bye. The Indians lost the toss and will therefore face San Jacinto tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. MST/8:00 p.m. CST.
