Chipola (38-8, 18-4) watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-2 loss to Northwest Florida State on Wednesday.

Northwest Florida State scored on a grand slam by Ross Goforth and a walk by Joe Guidry in the first inning.

Chipola took an early lead in the first inning. Reynaldo Rivera homered on a 2-1 count in the first inning, scoring one run.

Negron (2-1) took the loss for Chipola. He threw one-third of an inning, giving up five runs, and five hits.

Te'Kwaan Whyte and Rivera each drove in one run to lead Chipola Indians.
