GAMEDAY: Indians travel to Gulf Coast for start of second half of Panhandle season

MARIANNA, Fla. – Both the Chipola men and women will be looking to win the season series against the Commodores from Gulf Coast State College tonight at the Billy Harrison Fieldhouse in Panama City. The women get the evening started at 5:30 followed by the men with a scheduled tip at 7:30.

The Gulf Coast teams are coming off wins on the road at Pensacola in their last games. The #7 Lady Commodores defeated Pensacola, 58-48, on Saturday to move one-half game ahead of the Lady Indians for second place in the Panhandle standings. The Gulf Coast men won a high-scoring game against the Pirates, 93-88.

The Chipola teams will be looking to rebound following losses on the road at Northwest Florida last Saturday.

In other Panhandle action tonight, Tallahassee makes the long trip to Pensacola State for a 5:30 women's game and 7:30 men's game.

  • Five Lady Indians scored in double digits in the 83-76 win over the Lady Commodores. Ashley Baez had 19 followed by Brenda McKinney and Ivi Nikolova with 17. Tahnyjia Purifoy added 14 points and Kaitlyn Bryant had 12.
  • Chipola had its best three-point shooting night of the year in the previous meeting between the two teams. Chipola shot 13-of-25 (52.0 percent) while holding the Lady Commodores to just 4-of-10 from long-range.
