GAMEDAY: Familiar foes meet up again in Niceville

MARIANNA, Fla. – The Indians head to Niceville to take on Northwest Florida State College on Saturday in Raider Arena. The Lady Indians will tip-off with the #4 Raiders at 2 PM followed by the men's game between the two teams at 4 PM.

All four teams won their games on Wednesday night with the Chipola squads defeating Pensacola at home and Northwest Florida traveling to Tallahassee and getting a pair of wins.

The Chipola women used a 29-2 second quarter to take care of the #19 Lady Pirates, 69-55. The win moved the Lady Indians into sole possession of second place in the Panhandle Conference. The Chipola men rebounded from their first loss of the season with a 70-60 win over Pensacola.

The Raiders easily won the ladies game at Tallahassee, 94-69, and followed that up with a 69-67 win over the #3 Eagles in the men's game.

In other Panhandle action, Pensacola State hosts Gulf Coast State at 5:30 and 7:30.

  • Under head coach Donnie Tyndall, the Indians are 7-1 against the Raiders with the only loss coming in Raider Arena to open conference play last season.
  • Chipola has won its last four games inside Raider Arena. The Indians defeated the Raiders in the final regular season between the teams last year and won three straight games at the FCSAA/Region VIII Tournament held in Raider Arena to claim back-to-back State Championships. Chipola is 9-1 in Raider Arena under Coach Donnie Tyndall.
  • In the first meeting between the teams this season, Chipola led by as many as 18 before barely holding on for a 75-74 win at The Milt.
