Chipola Cross Country Competes at FCSAA State Meet

The Chipola College Women’s Cross Country Team recently competed in the first-ever NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Cross Country Championship, Nov. 4 in Tallahassee.

Chipola was led by Lydia Weideman who finished 11th overall at 22:09, her best time this season.  Jayde Smelcer was 17th at 23:33. Nicole Morse competed with an injury to finish at 24:11. Hannah Redmond Rees ran a personal best (24:55).  Katie Cox finished at 26:27. Conner Melvin logged a 28:48.

Three other Florida colleges—Tallahassee, Pasco-Hernando and South Florida State—competed in the meet.

The meet was the last cross country event of the season for Chipola. Three Chipola runners plan to compete in the Orange Beach Half-Marathon on Nov. 19.
