The Chipola College women's cross country team opened its season at the Mountain Dew Invitational hosted by the University of Florida on Sept. 19. The meet was open to all university and college teams.

The Indians were led by returning sophomore Margaret Wiedeman with a time of 22:07. Freshman Lydia Wiedeman was close behind at 22:15. The sisters finished in middle of the pack of 200 runners. Freshman Jayde Smelcer ran a 27:42. Conner Melvin posted a time of 27:44. Freshman Amber Raisebeck also participated in her first race.

Chipola will compete Oct. 3 at South Florida State College in Avon Park.
