Chipola advanced to the semifinals with a 74-70 win over Miami Dade. The Sharks were the only team to give the Bucs a loss in conference play.
The Bucs defeated Pensacola State in the opening round to move into Friday's matchup with the Lady Indians. FSW took control early in their game with the Lady Pirates and cruised to a 64-42 win. Three players scored in double digits for the Bucs. Sarah Owona led all scorers in the game with 17 points. She was followed by Samantha Serrano and Georgi Buzzeti who each had 16 points. The win improved the Bucs' overall record to 24-4.
Along with their loss to the Sharks this season, FSW fell to Trinity Valley on opening night of the 2024-2025 season and a pair of games to Northwest Florida on back-to-back weekends in November.
Florida SouthWestern averages 70.6 points per game while holding their opponents to 58.5 points. The Bucs are shooting 42.2 percent from the floor and 32.2 percent from behind the arc.
Florida SouthWestern won the Citrus Conference this season with a 17-1 record under new head coach, Jamie Fisher. Friday's semifinal against Chipola, also led by their first-year head coach, Mitch Rolls, will mean a coach in his first season at his school will play for the championship.
