GAMEDAY PREVIEW: #2 Lady Indians look to start a new streak
Chipola and Pensacola meet for the second time this season; Lady Indians won first meeting, 65-56
MARIANNA, Fla. – The #2 Lady Indians will be looking to rebound following their first loss of the season last Wednesday night. Chipola fell on the road, 77-75, to #8 Gulf Coast despite a big comeback in the fourth quarter. Trailing by 14 heading into the final ten minutes, the Lady Indians briefly took the lead in the final period but could not hold on as the Lady Commodores took the win.

The Pirates (16-7; 1-4) picked up their first Panhandle win of the season on Wednesday after being swept in the first round of conference play. Pensacola redeemed themselves from an earlier road loss to Tallahassee to come away with a 79-53 win at home.
Chipola and Pensacola met on January 11 in both teams' first conference game of the season. Chipola outscored the Pirates 27-13 in the third quarter to wipe away a six-point halftime deficit. The Lady Indians held off Pensacola in the final period to leave with a 65-56 victory. Kanija Daniel had 25 points in the first meeting and Daniya McDonald had 18.
GAME NOTES
- Kanija Daniel was named FCSAA Player of the Week for the third time in four weeks and she also garnered NJCAA Player of the Week for the first time this season. Daniel scored 25 points, hauled in 7 rebounds and had three blocked shots to lead Chipola to a 67-57 win over #1 Northwest Florida.
- Following the Lady Indians' win over then number one Northwest Florida, head coach Mitch Rolls was named NJCAA Coach of the week by whoopdirt.com.
- The Lady Indians fell shy of matching the school record for most consecutive wins and will be looking to restart that streak on Saturday night. The Lady Indians are 10-0 at home this season and have a 13-game win streak at The Milt going back to last season.
- Chipola has not lost to Pensacola at the Milton H, Johnson Center since a 59-50 loss on January 8, 2022. With a win, Chipola will win the season series with the Pirates, The Lady Indians have not lost a season series to Pensacola since the 2017-2018 season.
