GAMEDAY PREVIEW: #2 Chipola meets #8 Gulf Coast for the second time this season
The Lady Indians will face their third consecutive top ten team when they travel to Panama City to face the Lady Commodores.
MARIANNA, Fla. – The #2 Lady Indians (21-0; 3-0) will face their third straight top ten opponent on Wednesday night when they travel to Panama City to take on #8 Gulf Coast State College (16-2; 2-1).
Chipola will be looking for its 22nd consecutive win which would tie the record for longest win streak in school history.

RANKINGS
Five teams from the FCSAA are in the NJCAA's latest D1 Women's Basketball Rankings. Three teams from the Panhandle are in the top ten with Chipola leading the way at number two, Northwest Florida at number three, and Gulf Coast at number eight. Florida Southwestern is #17 and Eastern Florida State is #21.
In the FCSAA D1 Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll, Chipola, Northwest Florida State, and Gulf Coast occupy the top three positions. Pensacola State comes in at number seven and Tallahassee is at number nine.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
The Lady Commodores moved to 16-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Panhandle Conference standings with a 91-82 win over Pensacola State on Sunday. Gulf Coast outscored Pensacola 16-7 in the overtime period to come away with the win.
The win kept the Lady Commodores in a second-place tie with Northwest Florida as the first round of conference play came to a close. Due to the record snowfall all across the Panhandle, the Lady Commodores and the Raiders did not meet in the first round. The two teams will make up their game at the end of the season on Monday, March 3.
Sophomore forward, Ja'Navia Gage, leads the Lady Commodores with a 13.8 scoring average in 18 games played. Gage scored 13 points the last time the two teams met, a 94-67 Chipola win.
GAME NOTES
- For the the third time in four weeks, Kanija Daniel was named FCSAA Player of the Week. Daniel scored 25 points, hauled in 7 rebounds and had three blocked shots to lead Chipola to a 67-57 win over #1 Northwest Florida.
- Chipola has not defeated Gulf Coast in the Billy Harrison Fieldhouse since winning 77-66 on March 3, 2021.
- Chipola head coach Mitch Rolls was named NJCAA Coach of the Week following Chipola's 67-57 win over number one Northwest Florida.
- The Lady Indians are 2-0 this season at the Billy Harrison Fieldhouse. At the Richard Sanders Classic in Panama City on November 8-9, Chipola defeated Daytona State, 97-66, and Andrew College, 90-44.
