Baez picks up back-to-back FCSAA/Region VIII POTW Awards

For the second consecutive week, sophomore guard, Ashley Baez, has been named the FCSAA/Region VIII Player of the Week.

In the Lady Indians 87-46 win over Central Georgia Tech, Baez scored 22 despite hitting just 2-of-12 from three-point range. Baez also had four steals in the game and dished out two assists.

On Saturday, Baez and the rest of the Lady Indians trounced the 2021-2022 NJCAA runner-up, Georgia Highlands College, 106-43. Baez bested her career-high, set one week ago, scoring 41 points against the Lady Chargers. Baez was 16-of-31 from the floor and had seven steals.

For the week, Baez averaged 31.5 points, 1.0 rebound, 1.5 assists, and 5.5 steals and shot 46.9 percent from the floor (23-of-49).

Baez missed out on her second consecutive NJCAA Player of the Week.

Jenny Nkem Womsi of Barton Community College (Kansas) was named the POTW for November 9-15. Over three games, Womsi averaged 16.0 points and 13.0 rebounds while shooting 16-of-27 (59.2 percent).
