The #3 Lady Indians (#2 FCSAA/Region 8) used a suffocating defense on Monday night to defeat the Pensacola State Lady Pirates, 81-43, at The Milt.

The Chipola defense forced 27 turnovers and had 16 steals on the night. The Lady Indians were also tough on the boards, outrebounding the Lady Pirates, 37-23.

Four Lady Indians finished in double figures and, for the first time all season, every player on the Chipola bench scored.

De'Myla Brown shot 50 percent from the floor and led all scorers with 22 points in the game. Joining Brown in double figures were Isadora Sousa (16), Ta'Shonna Wright-Gaskins (11), and Ifunanya Nwachukwu (10).

The Lady Indians held Pensacola to 31.3 percent from the floor while shooting 53.2 percent on their end of the court, including 10-of-22 from three point range.

Chipola (13-2, 10-2 PC) can clinch a berth in the FCSAA/Region Tournament with a win on Wednesday night against Gulf Coast State College. Tip off from The Milt is set for 5:30 PM.
