#4 Chipola Women's Basketball defeats #10 Gulf Coast, 68-57

In another nationally ranked matchup for Chipola College, the #4 Lady Indians (6-1, 3-1 PC) hosted the #10 Gulf Coast State College (4-3, 2-3 PC) in Wednesday night's matchup. With a strong offensive performance, the Lady Indians saw four players finish the night in double figures. With a final score of 68-57, Chipola secured a statement win at home in conference play.  

In what was a back-and-forth battle in the first half, De'Myla Brown led the charge for the Lady Indians with 20 points at the break. However, the Lady Commodores continued to battle and went into halftime with a tie ballgame at 30-30.  

To start the 3rd quarter, the Lady Indians came out on fire with a 9-0 run, as their offense began to gain momentum. Although the Lady Commodores were able to stay in the game, the offensive surge from Chipola proved too strong.  

Without missing a step, the Lady Indians started the 4th quarter with a 6-0 run, continuing to put pressure on Gulf Coast. Chipola eventually took the biggest lead of the night, up 16 with 5:25 to go in the game.

De'Myla Brown finished the game with 25 points. Followed by Isadora Sousa who finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals.  

Jordan McLaughlin ran her streak of scoring in double figures to four games by pouring in 13 on the night. Ifunanya Nwachukwu fell just short of her second double-double game of the season as she ended the night with 12 points and 9 rebounds.  

The Lady Indians will travel to face conference opponent Pensacola State College on Saturday, February 20, at 5:30 PM.
