Lady Indians are ready to go at the NJCAA Tournament in Yuma, Arizona
#12 Chipola will take on #5 Chattanooga State at 5:30 PM CDT on Monday
YUMA, Ariz. – The Chipola Lady Indians (33-19; ranked 23rd NJCAA) will be the #12 seed at the NJCAA Division I Softball World Series in Yuma, Arizona, May 19-24. Chipola will take on #5 Chattanooga State (48-7; ranked 14th NJCAA) at 5:30 PM CDT on Monday.
Chipola is making its first appearance in the tournament since 2021, the final season under former head coach Belinda Hendrix. After winning the FCSAA/South Atlantic District A Championships, the 2021 squad went 1-2 at the World Series which was also held in Yuma.
Chipola is making its tenth appearance at the World Series. The Lady Indians won the National Championship in 2007, 2015, and 2019.
Chattanooga State won the TCCAA/Appalachian District Championships by going 4-0. The Tigers and the Lady Indians have played five common opponents. The Tigers split a pair of games with Gulf Coast and lost a single game to Northwest Florida. Chipola finished the season 3-2 against the Lady Commodores and 0-5 to the Raiders. Both teams also faced Shelton State, Snead State, & Roane State. The Lady Indians were 4-0 against those three teams while the Tigers finished 6-0.
