Coach Kelly Brookins and her Lady Indians softball team will open up the 2022 fall season with a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday, September 17.
Chipola will play high school age teams in four of their first six games this season before taking on other junior college teams and NCAA teams to round out their 28-game fall schedule.
With the Lady Indians looking to return to the National Tournament this spring, they will play a schedule that will feature 11 games against NCAA D1 schools. Coach Brookins hopes the schedule will help prepare her squad for the spring. "The fall is all about getting better and learning how to play together in preparation for the spring," said Brookins. "We want to put together as tough a schedule as we can so that by the time the spring comes around, we will have already faced adversity and know how to overcome it."
The Lady Indians will play three Southeastern Conference schools this spring, all of which advanced to the NCAA Regionals last season.
On October 2, Chipola will travel to Wallace State-Hanceville to play the Auburn Tigers before taking on the host team, a traditional NJCAA National Tournament participant.
Chipola will play a doubleheader in Oxford, Mississippi on October 21 against the Ole Miss Rebels who were 41-19 in the 2022 season.
LSU will wrap up the SEC portion of the Lady Indians' fall schedule. Chipola will take on the Tigers, in Baton Rouge, a day before traveling to Mobile to play the University of South Alabama in their final game of the fall season.
The Lady Indians will also travel up to Clemson, South Carolina on October 28. Chipola will take on the Tigers who were 42-17 in 2022 and lost in the Super Regionals to Women's College World Series participant, Oklahoma State.
Coach Brookins will square off against a familiar face on October 29 when the Lady Indians travel to play East Tennessee State, coached by former Chipola head coach, Belinda Hendrix.
