The Lady Indians (24-17) will face their fourth consecutive nationally ranked team, third in the State Tournament, in the championship game on Sunday at 3 PM central in Longoowd, Florida.

After defeating #16 Pensacola State College on April 25 to win a share of the Panhandle Conference Championship, the Lady Indians have upset two top five ranked teams on the first two days of the FCSAA State Tournament. Chipola defeated #5 College of Central Florida, 9-5, to open the tournament on Friday and then took down the number one team in the nation, Florida SouthWestern State, 6-3, in thrilling fashion on Saturday.

Standing in the way of Chipola's sixth state championship and sixth consecutive trip to the NJCAA National Tournament is the number twelve team in the NJCAA rankings, Indian River State College. The Pioneers (30-11), winners of the Southern Conference, advanced to the championship game by defeating St. Petersburg College, 6-4, on Friday, and Santa Fe College, 5-1, on Saturday.

Chipola and Indian River met back on February 20 with the Pioneers winning a wild one. The two teams combined for seventeen runs in the seventh inning before Indian River took the 15-13 win.

The loser of today's game will have a second chance to advance to the National Tournament on Monday at 9 AM. They will take on the winner of Sunday's 6 PM game for the opportunity to be the second representative from the South Atlantic District.
