GAMEDAY PREVIEW: #13 Indians start 2nd round of conference play at Gulf Coast
Chipola defeated the Commodores the first time the two teams met, 60-57.
MARIANNA, Fla. – #13 Chipola (17-4; 2-1) travels to Billy Harrison Fieldhouse in Panama City on Wednesday to take on the Commodores of Gulf Coast State College (15-5; 1-2). This is the second meeting of the season between the two longtime rivals. Chipola won the first time the two teams met, 60-57, in Marianna.

RANKINGS
Following their double digit win over Northwest Florida last Saturday, the Indians moved up four to #13 in the latest NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball Rankings. The Raiders slid nine slots down to #17. The leader in the Panhandle Conference standings after the first round, Pensacola State, fell to #21 after losing to the Commodores on Sunday. Daytona State is ranked fourth and Eastern Florida State moved up to #24.
Daytona State is number one in the latest FCSAA D1 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll with Chipola and Eastern Florida tied at #2. Pensacola State and Northwest Florida are fourth and fifth respectively with Tallahassee at #7, and Gulf Coast at #8.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
The Commodores picked up a big win on Sunday at home when they took down previously unbeaten in the Conference, Pensacola State, 76-66. Gulf Coast's leading scorer on the season, Sophomore Christian Harmon, scored his season average of 16 points to lead Gulf Coast in the win.
GAME NOTES
- The Indians have won the last nine games in the series with the Commodores which includes a season sweep the last two years. As the head coach of Chipola, Tyndall is 13-2 against Gulf Coast. The last time the Commodores defeated the Indians was in Panama City on January 17, 2022.
- In other conference action tonight, Tallahassee State travels to Pensacola State. Chipola could take over first place in the conference with a win and a Pensacola loss.
