PREVIEW: FCSAA's top defense and top offense collide
The #12 Indians meet #25 Daytona State at the FCSAA Shootout in Tallahassee
TALLAHASSEE Florida – The #12 Chipola Indians (9-2) will face yet another tough opponent when they meet up with #25 Daytona State College this afternoon in the FCSAA Shootout. Coach Donnie Tyndall and company will travel over to Tallahassee for a 3 PM CST tip with the Falcons (8-2).
With the exception of Pensacola State, every Panhandle Conference team will participate in the shootout along with Miami-Dade College, Florida SouthWestern, Indian River State College, Hillsborough, Polk State College, Santa Fe, St. Petersburg, and FSC-Jacksonville. The Eagles, Raiders, and Commodores will play both days of the Shootout.

The Indians took down previously unbeaten South Georgia State College on Tuesday at The Milt, 73-58.
Freshman Justin Burns put up a season-high 26 points and picked up his second double-double by hauling in 13 rebounds. Burns averages 10.8 points in eight games played this season.
Trent Lincoln joined him in double figures with 13 points. It was the freshman's sixth two-digit output of the season to up his season average to 10.3 ppg.
Sophomore guard Antonio Baker leads Chipola with 13.5 ppg. Baker has scored 10 or more points in 9 of 11 games this season.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT
After starting the season as the 3rd rank team in the NJCAA Preseason Rankings and number one in the FCSAA Preseason Coaches Poll, Daytona State lost two of its first four games to drop in the polls.
The Falcons fell on the road to preseason #12 College of Southern Idaho in the second game of the season, 89-81, and then two games later lost to #6 Northwest Florida, 88-83, in Niceville.
Since the loss to the Raiders, Daytona State has won six straight games including a pair of wins last week at the Pensacola State Thanksgiving Classic over Panhandle Conference teams. Daytona defeated Gulf Coast, 87-66, on Tuesday then followed that win the next day with a win over #15 Tallahassee State, 97-78.
The Falcons took down Florida Coastal Prep, 118-58, on Monday, December 2, in Daytona. Sophomore guard, Isaiah Dorceus, scored 17 points in the win. Dorceus leads the Falcons in scoring with an average of 13.6 ppg.
As a team, Daytona averages 103 points per outing (5th in the NJCAA; 1st in the FCSAA) and is holding their opponents to 64.4 ppg (33rd NJCAA; 7th FCSAA).
GAME NOTES
- Chipola ranks 15th in the NJCAA in Points Allowed (61.0).
- The Indians have held their opponents to under 60 points in 6 of their 11 games this season. When Chipola has scored 60 points in a game, they are 9-0.
- Under head coach Donnie Tyndall, Chipola has not met Daytona State in a regular season or post-season game. The last time the two teams met was on December 12, 2015 at the FCSAA Shootout in Ocala. The Falcons defeated the Indians, 96-91, in overtime.
