PREVIEW: Chipola men open PSC Thanksgiving Classic with Lamar State-Port Arthur

PENSACOLA, Florida - The #16 Chipola men's basketball team will begin play in the Pensacola State Thanksgiving Classic on Monday with the Seahawks from Lamar State College - Port Arthur. The Indians will meet two undefeated, top five ranked teams in the Classic, but Coach Donnie Tyndall's squad will focus first on the Seahawks in Monday's 3 PM contest.

The Seahawks have begun the season with a 3-2 record. Both losses came to ranked teams in the East/West Challenge at Collin College in Plano, Texas. On November 15, Lamar State College fell to #14 Howard College, 86-61. The next day #9 Odessa College got the best of the Seahawks with a 76-54 win.

Sophomore guard, Andre Walker II, leads the Seahawks in scoring, averaging 11.8 points per game. As a team, the Seahawks average 84.0 each outing while holding their opponents to 72.5 points per game.

The Indians are averaging 69.0 points per game and allowing 58.7 points by their opponents.

Sophomore guards Markel Freeman and Antonio Baker, along with Freshman Trent Lincoln, average in double digits for Chipola. Freeman averages 15.3 points with Baker right behind him at 14.3. Lincoln has tallied 10.2 points over the course of six games this season.

Chipola will take on #4 Jones College on Tuesday followed by #3 Trinity Valley at 3 PM on Wednesday to round out their play in the Pensacola Thanksgiving Classic.
