After a 15-0 start to the season, the Chipola Indians have risen to the #2 slot in the NJCAA Division I Basketball Rankings.

Last weekend, Coach Donnie Tyndall's squad went 2-0 at the FCSAA Shootout in Melbourne on the campus of Eastern Florida State College.

Chipola defeated St. Petersburg on Saturday, 87-65, then hit a three-point shot just before time expired to defeat Florida SouthWestern, 70-69.

Coach Tyndall and the Indians welcome Enterprise State Community College from Alabama to The Milt on Saturday night at 7 PM. The Indians are back at home after a five-game road trip.

The Boll Weevils are currently 2-5 on the season and average 70.7 points per game while allowing 74.0.

ESCC is led by Marianna native, and former Chipola player, Ahmad Johnson, with 11 points per game. Johnson transferred to Enterprise following a redshirt season at Chipola in 2021-2022.

The #2 Indians have four players averaging double-digit points this season.

Sophomore Derrick Butler leads Chipola with 14.0 points per game and is closely followed by sophomore Deyton Albury with 13.1. Butler also leads the team from behind the arc, shooting 38.8 percent.

Freshman JC Curry is averaging 10.0 points per game and leads the team in free throw shooting at 81.6 percent.

After Saturday's night game, the Indians will break for the Christmas holidays before heading to Gulf Coast State College on December 30-31 for the PCB Convention and Visitor's Tournament.

Chipola will play State College of Florida on Friday, December 30, at 2 PM, then take on Central Georgia Tech at noon the next day.
