Tournament Preview: #4 Indians host the Thanksgiving Classic

The Chipola men's basketball team will host the Thanksgiving Classic this weekend at the Milton H. Johnson Center. Chipola along with Panhandle rival, Tallahassee Community College, will take on Southern Union State Community College and LSU Eunice.

Daily admission for the two-day event is $5 and tickets can be purchased at the door. Chipola Appreciation Club members should enter through the back of the Milton H. Johnson Center. Chipola's games will be broadcast on the College's YouTube channel. Games not involving Chipola will not be broadcast.

The 8-0 Indians moved up to #4 in this week's NJCAA Rankings and #1 in the FCSAA Coaches' Poll after picking up two high-scoring wins in the Milton Johnson Classic a week ago. 

The Indians are scoring 86.6 points per game and have four players that are averaging double figures. Sophomore Derrick Butler leads Chipola with 15.5 points per game. Coming off a pair of double-double outputs, sophomore Paul Greeene leads the team on the boards with 6.9 per game.

Tallahassee 

The Eagles are ranked #13 in the latest NJCAA Rankings and #4 in the FCSAA Coaches' Poll. Tallahassee is 6-1 on the season with their only loss coming to Southern Union on November 11. On Saturday, the Eagles will get a shot at redemption against the Bison in Saturday's first game of the Thanksgiving Classic. Tallahassee will open the Classic with LSU Eunice on Friday at 2 PM.

TCC is scoring 86.3 points per game and led by sophomore Addison Patterson, a sophomore transfer from the University of Oregon, who averages 16.7 points per game. 

Southern Union

The Bison have only played three games this season due to a pair of games being postponed. Southern Union, from Wadley, Alabama, is 1-2 with all three games coming against Panhandle teams.

Along with the win against Tallahassee, the Bison lost a pair of games to Northwest Florida State. The Bison will continue their schedule against Panhandle teams with Chipola at 4 PM on Friday and Tallahassee at 2 PM on Saturday.

LSU Eunice

The Bengals enter the Thanksgiving Classic with a perfect 6-0 record and scoring 76.2 points per game. In their last game on November 22, the Bengals defeated Angelina College, 58-48.

LSU Eunice is led by sophomore guard, Bryce Roberts, who averages 14.0 points per game.
