Indians complete road trip with dominating 102-64 win

The Chipola men's basketball team finished off a four-game road trip with an impressive 102-64 win over Georgia Highlands College on Sunday afternoon. The #5 Indians won 3-out-of-4 and moved their season record to 6-1.

Chipola big men, Faizon Fields and Nae'Qwan Tomlin, accounted for 43 points and 13 rebounds in the win. Fields' 23 points was career-high and followed a 12 point perfomance in Saturday's game against State College of Florida. 

The Indians used a big first half to build a lead over the Chargers. Chipola led by as many as 25 in the first half and went into the locker room with a 50-27 lead.

The Chargers fought back in the second half and used a pair of runs, including a 17-4 blitz to bring the score to within 11 with twelve minutes remaining in the game.

Georgia Highlands was unable to get any closer as Chipola began to pull away. Three Shay Davis three-pointers on four offensive possessions and an 18-0 run in the final minutes put the game out of reach and gave the Indians their sixth win of the season.

The Indians had their best night of shooting in the season, making 35-of-55 shots (63.6%) while holding the Chargers to just 27.3%. Chipola also finished the night 23-of-25 (92%) from the free throw line.

Chipola will be at home on Saturday, November 27, when they will take on Southern Union from Wadley, Alabama. Tip-off is set for 6 PM. Prior to that game, Northwest Florida will take on Miami-Dade at 4 PM.

Game Notes

• The 102 points scored by the Indians was the most since Donnie Tyndall became the head coach at Chipola. It was also the most by the Indians since they defeated Miami-Dade College on Novmber 29, 2019 in a 103-94 win.
• Joining Fields and Tomlin in double-figures, were Shay Davis (17) and John Wilson (13).
• Faizon Fields was a perfect 10-of-10 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
• Chipola returns home on Saturday looking to extend their home win streak, which dates back to the 2019-20 season. The Indians have won 19 consecutive games at The Milt
