Indians defeat Gulf Coast, 84-63; extend win streak to six

The NJCAA 16th ranked Chipola Indians picked up their sixth straight win, twelfth overall, on Wednesday night defeating Gulf Coast, 84-63.

With six minutes remaining in the first half, the Indians used a 20-10 run to end the half and take a commanding lead into the locker room, 42-31. In the first half the Indians shot 44 percent from the floor including 7-of 14 from three point range.

The Indians would push the lead to 16 with a 5-0 run to start the second half. The Commodores managed to cut the lead to ten midway through the second half but could not get any closer.

Carlos Lemus led all scorers with 18 points. He was joined in double figures by Nae'Qwan Tomlin (14), Jaeden Zackery (13), Bryce Zephir (11), and Dontae Walker (11). Tomlin led Chipola on the boards with 7 of the team's 34. Naheem McLeod had three blocked shots for the Indians.

The Indians finished the night shooting 49.1 percent from the floor, including 9-of 20 from beyond the arc. 

The Indians (12-3; 7-2 PC) will play at home on Saturday evening in another Panhandle Conference matchup. Tip-off against Pensacola State College (6-7, 5-4 PC) from the Milton H. Johnson Center will follow the women's game at approximately 7:30 PM.
