Cheer Tryouts Announced

DATE CHANGE: TRYOUTS ARE NOW SATURDAY, JUNE 8.

The Chipola Cheerleaders tryouts will be held Saturday, June 8 at 9:00 a.m. CST at the Milton H. Johnson Health Center. The gym will open prior to tryouts at 8:30 a.m. CST. 

All applicants must bring the cheer application (CLICK HERE: http://www.chipolaathletics.com/sports/cheer/Tryout_Information), a transcript, and a recommendation letter to tryouts. 

Minimum requirements for tryouts:

• ALL: 
  • Tumbling: standing back handspring (not spots)
• FEMALES:
  • Running multiples, round off back handspring, and standing tuck preferred
• MALES:
  • Toss to hands, standing tuck

Tryout Attire:

• FEMALES: Black shorts, white tank, appropriate makeup, ponytail with classic holder (no clips), no jewelry, no long fingernails, no visible tattoos
• MALES: Black shorts, white shirt

Being a Chipola cheerleader is a commitment for one full academic year. Each candidate is judged on technical skills (motions, stunts, tumbling) with an emphasis on crowd leadership during tryouts. All cheerleaders will be expected to participate in all fundraising activities, as well as strength and conditioning training. Chipola's cheerleading team cheers at home and away men's and women's basketball games and performs at college and community events.
