Chipola to meet Indian River for PCB College Baseball Classic Championship
First pitch from Publix Sports Park between #12 Indians and #22 Pioneers is set for 1 PM CST.
PANAMA CITY, Fla. – After a tough 4-2 loss to #24 John A. Logan College on Friday, the #12 Chipola Indians won twice on Saturday to advance to the Championship Game of the 2025 Panama City Beach College Baseball Classic.
Chipola defeated NJCAA D2's fifth ranked team, Pearl River Community College, 7-1, and Eastern Florida State, 13-6, to take their record to 5-2 on the season.
Chipola's 2-1 tournament record tied six other teams for second place in the standings. It took two tiebreakers to determine who Indian River State, the tournament's only undefeated team, would face in the Championship Game. The first tiebreaker, run differential, left Chipola & Eastern Florida still knotted up. Chipola had scored 22 runs while allowing 11 and the Titans had scored 24 while allowing 13. With both teams having a run differential of 11, and since they had already played one another in the tournament, head-to-head result determined the winner.
Chipola and Indian River will meet for the tournament title on Sunday afternoon. First pitch from Publix Sports Park in Panama City is scheduled for 1 PM.
