Elissalt and Miller-Green selected on Day 3 of MLB Draft
The pair become the latest in a long line of players with #ChiPROla forever associated with their names.
MARIANNA, FL – Two former Chipola Baseball players heard their names called as part of the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday just like many others have since 1966 when Buddy Smith became the first member of an elite group that is come to be known by the hashtag, #ChiPROla.
Lucas Elissalt, a sophomore right-handed pitcher on the 2024 Chipola baseball team, was drafted in the 13th round by the Detroit Tigers. Four rounds later, Lyle-Miller Green, a senior at Austin Peay State University this past season, and a member of the 2021 Chipola baseball team, was drafted by the Chicago White Sox.

After transferring from Coastal Alabama – South, Elissalt quickly became the ace of the Chipola staff in 2024. In his first outing for the Indians, he struck out four and allowed two runs on just three hits and a walk, in a 14-2 trouncing of the defending National Champions, College of Central Florida. A week later, Elissalt pitched five innings against Miami Dade College in a 4-1 win for Chipola. Elissalt struck out 7 in the no decision and allowed just five hits and one walk. For the season, Elissalt made 15 starts and finished with a 6-2 record. Over 65.0 innings pitched, he struck out 78 and walked 26, while carrying a 4.85 ERA. |

After spending the Covid-shortened season of 2020 at George Mason University, Lyle Miller-Green transferred and played his freshman season at Chipola in 2021. In 36 games, Miller-Green batted .326 with three home runs and 17 RBI for the Indians. He also made six pitching appearances in reflief, finishing with five strikeouts in six appearances. He played his sophomore season at Oklahoma State University where he played in seven games, starting five as the designated hitter. The following season, Miller-Green moved to Austin Peay State University where he led the team in batting average (.354), home runs (16), and RBIs (51). He also made 13 starts on the mound for the Governors. Following the season, he was named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference Second Team as a designated hitter. In his senior season, Miller-Green belted 30 home runs, drove in 94, and scored 94 runs for the Govs, all school records, while batting .393. On the mound, he made 12 appearances, including 11 starts, and finished the year with a 5-2 record. He was named First Team All-America by NCBWA, Perfect Game, and the College Baseball Foundation, Second Team All-America by the ABCA, and Third Team All-America by Baseball America and D1Baseball. He was also named the Atlantic Sun Conference's Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year. College Sports Communicators also selected him to their First Team Academic All-America® First Team. |
