Returning sophomore, Brantley Willis, a Marianna native, started the season going 6-for-10 at the plate with three doubles and nine RBI. Florida State University transfer, Jordan Taylor, also had a good weekend at the plate. The sophomore batted .500 in six at-bats and collected three RBIs.

On the mound, Lucas Elissalt (1-0), a transfer from Coastal Alabama South, picked up the first win of the season. Elissalt pitched four innings in the Indians' 14-2 run-rule victory over NJCAA Preseason #1, College of Central Florida. The right-hander held the defending national champions to three hits and two earned runs while striking out four.

The Indians picked up their second win of the weekend and the season over Palm Beach State, 9-5, in Saturday's first game. Freshman Austin Brown (1-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Amari Allen. The O'Fallon, Illinois native allowed three runs on five hits in four innings of work.

Chipola fell in the second game of each day to end the weekend 2-2. On Friday, Polk State got the best of the Indians using four home runs to claim a 9-5 victory. Another hometown player, Cole Nobles, had an impressive first outing for Chipola by not allowing a run in two innings of relief. Nobles struck out six and gave up one hit.

In the final game of the weekend against Seminole State College, Chipola rallied with three runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game then held off the Raiders in the bottom half to force extra innings. A bases loaded sac fly to centerfield provided the winning run as the Raiders took the 7-6 win.
