Steele Hurls Gem to Force Game 2

An early lead helped Chipola (50-9) defeat San Jacinto 7-1 on Friday.  

Chipola took an early lead in the second inning. They scored two runs when Jacob Silverstein singled with two outs in the second inning.

Evan Steele (5-0) earned the win. He threw eight innings, giving up one run, three hits, and striking out 12.

Home runs for Chipola came when Reynaldo Rivera homered in the eighth inning and Trey Dawson homered in the sixth inning.

Chipola had 14 hits in the game.  Jose Caballero, Chris Clayton, Andrew Bechtold, and Silverstein each collected multiple hits. Clayton and Caballero all had three hits to lead the way.

Chipola will face San Jacinto in the final tomorrow at 7pm MST. It is a winner-take-all championship game.
