Indians Win Another Slugfest, Still Alive at WS

Chipola (48-9) defeated McLennan 19-11 on Wednesday to stay alive at the NJCAA World Series.  

Chipola scored on a double by Trey Dawson and a home run by Jose Caballero in the second inning to score 5 runs.

Chipola scored another five runs in the fourth inning. The Indians scored on a single by Jacob Silverstein and a home run by Reynaldo Rivera.


McLennan scored three runs in the seventh inning. 


Ryan Shauger (7-2) earned the win. He pitched four and a third innings of relief, allowing five runs, eight hits, striking out four, and walking one.  

Junior Harding recorded the last two outs to earn the save.


Andrew Grogan started the game for Chipola Indians. He went one and one-third innings, surrendering three runs, three hits, striking out two, and walking one.

Home runs for Chipola Indians came when Rivera homered in the fourth and sixth innings, Caballero homered in the second and eighth innings, and Max Guzman homered in the third inning. 

Chipola collected 17 hits.  CaballeroRiveraGuzmanAndrew BechtoldChris Clayton, and Silverstein each collected multiple hits. Rivera and Caballero each managed four hits to lead Chipola Indians.

Rivera was 4-5 as he singled in the second, singled in the third, homered in the fourth, and homered in the sixth.

Caballero was 4-6 with 6 RBI's and 2 HR's. 

Chipola plays Wabash Valley in an elimination game Thursday at 3pm MST.
