Indians Still Alive at World Series

Chipola (47-9) took the lead for good in the eighth inning to capture a back-and-forth game from Florence-Darlington by an 11-7 score on Tuesday.

The game was tied at seven with Chipola batting in the top of the eighth when Te'Kwaan Whyte singled off of Price, driving in one run.

Both offenses were strong at the plate as Chipola collected ten hits and Florence-Darlington ten.

Chipola captured the lead in the first inning. The Indians scored one run when Max Guzman singled with two outs in the first inning.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Florence-Darlington tied things up at seven.

A wild pitch by Junior Harding scored one run for Florence-Darlington .

Harding (3-1) earned the win. He went four innings in relief, giving up one run, two hits, and striking out eight.


Bowden Francis started the game for Chipola Indians. He threw five innings, giving up six runs, eight hits, and striking out four.


Home runs for Chipola Indians came when Jose Caballero homered in the seventh inning to put the Indians ahead 7-6, Andrew Bechtold homered in the fourth inning, and Chris Clayton homered in the eighth inning to extend the lead. 

Trey Dawson and Clayton each collected multiple hits. 

Chipola will play tomorrow in another elimination game versus the loser of a winner's bracket game between San Jacinto and McLennan. Game time is scheduled for 3pm MST at Suplizio Field.
