Chipola on Wrong End of Slugfest

Chipola (46-9) fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 13-8 loss to San Jacinto on Monday.

San Jacinto scored on a single by Luke Watson in the first inning, a single by Aaron Bond in the first inning, and a home run by Ryan Johnson in the second inning.

Despite the loss, Chipola did collect ten hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, San Jacinto had 16 hits on the way to victory.

San Jacinto captured the lead in the first inning.

Chipola scored three runs in the seventh inning. They scored on a single by Reynaldo Rivera and a passed ball.

Home runs for Chipola came when Rivera homered in the sixth inning, Te'Kwaan Whyte homered in the sixth inning, and Max Guzman homered in the fourth inning.

Rivera and Guzman each collected multiple hits for Chipola.  Rivera and Guzmaneach drove in two runs to lead the way.

Chipola now moves to the loser's bracket. They will play tomorrow at 11am CST versus Florence-Darlington in an elimination game.
