Team Effort Leads to 7-4 Win

Chipola (39-8, 19-4) took the lead late in the game in a 7-4 victory over Gulf Coast State on Friday.

The game was tied at one with Chipola batting in the top of the sixth when Reynaldo Rivera homered off of Alec Wisely, driving in two runs.

Gulf Coast State scored three runs in the seventh inning, but Chipola Indians still managed to pull out the victory. 

Chipola Indians captured the lead in the second inning. Brody Wofford homered on a 2-1 count in the second inning, scoring one run.

After Chipola Indians scored three runs in the top of the seventh, Gulf Coast State answered with three of their own. 

Chipola scored when Andrew Bechtold singled off of Greg Loukinen, driving in one run and Loukinen uncorked a wild pitch, scoring two runs. Gulf Coast State then answered when Webb singled off of Ryan Shauger, driving in one run and Kilcrease singled off of Shauger, driving in two runs.

Chipola took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth inning. In the sixth Max Guzman homered off of Alec Wisely, driving in one run.
Bowden Francis (11-2) earned the win. He pitched five innings, giving up one run, four hits, striking out four, and walking one. 

Shauger threw one and two-thirds innings, as four relievers (Hock, Grogan, Knox) helped Chipola Indians finish off the victory.

Home runs for Chipola Indians came when Reynaldo Rivera homered in the sixth inning, Wofford homered in the second inning, and Guzman homered in the sixth inning.

Chipola Indians collected 11 hits. Jose CaballeroRivera, and Bechtold each collected multiple hits.
