Indians Clinch First-Place in Panhandle

Chipola clinched first place in the Panhandle Conference with a win today over PSC. 

Four hits from Reynaldo Rivera helped lead Chipola Indians (37-7, 17-3) past Pensacola State 16-1 on Saturday.  Rivera singled in the first, singled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.

An early lead helped propel Chipola Indians to victory.  Chipola Indians scored on a single by Jacob Silverstein and a single in the first inning.


Chipola Indians scored seven runs in the fifth inning.  Chipola Indians scored on a single by Reynaldo Rivera, a error, a double by Chris Clayton, and a groundout by Edmond Americaan.

Evan Steele (1-0) earned the win for Chipola Indians. He tossed two innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out two, and walking zero.  Junior Harding threw two innings, as two relievers helped Chipola Indians finish off the victory.  Cody Herring took the loss for Pensacola State. He threw three innings, allowing nine runs, ten hits, and striking out one.
