Offensive Surge Leads to 16-6 Win
Chipola scores in bunches late to topple TCC.
Chipola (34-7, 14-3) took the lead late in the game in a 16-6 victory over Tallahassee on Monday. The game was tied at six with Chipola Indians batting in the top of the sixth when Jose Caballero tripled off of Niko Leontarakis, driving in two runs.
Andrew Bechtold led the Indians to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-3 at the plate. Bechtold drove in runs on a home run in the sixth and a home run in the seventh.
Tallahassee took an early lead in the second inning. Myron Mebane drove in one when he homered in the second inning.
Chipola evened things up at six in the top of the fifth inning. Max Guzman homered on a 2-0 count in the fifth inning, scoring three runs.
Tallahassee scored four runs in the third inning. Tallahassee's big inning was driven by a home run by Tucker Rayburn and a home run by Aaron Haughton.
Riley Cabral (8-0) earned the win. He pitched five innings, surrendering six runs (5 earned), seven hits, and striking out six.
Chipola had 14 hits in the game. Reynaldo Rivera, Bechtold, and Te'Kwaan Whyte each collected multiple hits.
