Guzman Leads Offensive Attack
Chipola beats NWF in Game 2 of series, 13-6
Max Guzman collected four hits in five at bats, as Chipola (29-4, 10-0) defeated Northwest Florida State 13-6 on Thursday. Guzman doubled in the first, singled in the second, homered in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.
Chipola Indians grabbed an early lead. Chipola Indians scored on a double by Max Guzman in the first inning, a home run by Jacob Silverstein in the second inning, a single by Guzman in the second inning, and a single by Brody Wofford in the second inning.
Northwest Florida State took an early lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Jake Corso drove in one run when he singled.
Chipola knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning. Chipola Indians scored two runs when Guzman doubled with two outs in the first inning.
Chipola Indians took the lead for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second Silverstein homered off of Brayson Smith, driving in three runs, Guzman singled off of Smith, driving in one run, and Wofford singled off of Smith, driving in one run.
Riley Cabral (7-0) earned the win for Chipola Indians. He went five innings, surrendering five runs, seven hits, and striking out eight. Three relievers helped Chipola Indians close out the victory. Roberto Negron threw one and two-thirds innings. Robbie Knox and Kevin Craft also pitched in relief.
Home runs for Chipola came when Silverstein homered in the second inning and Guzman homered in the fourth inning.
Chipola had 18 hits in the game. Guzman, Andrew Bechtold, Jose Caballero, Reynaldo Rivera, and Te'Kwaan Whyte each collected multiple hits for Chipola Indians.
