Chipola outlasts St. Petersburg, 5-0

Jay Estes went 2-4 and hit a home run, sparking the Chipola Indians (3-0) to a 5-0 victory over St. Petersburg College on Saturday at Walter Fuller Park.

He homered in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.

Brady Acker pitched lights out for the Chipola Indians. St. Petersburg College managed just two hits off of Acker, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six during his four innings of work.

King couldn't get it done on the mound for St. Petersburg College, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed one run.

The Chipola Indians never trailed after scoring one run in the first on a solo home run by Estes.

The Chipola Indians built upon their lead with three runs in the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when Reynaldo Rivera singled, scoring Estes. That was followed up by Michael Rojas's single, plating Rivera.

Five Indian pitchers combined for the shut out. Acker went 4 innings, followed by Franklin Van Gurp (2 innings), and Kevin Craft, Kyle Schweiger, and Hudson Graham each threw an inning a piece.
