Indians topple Alabama Southern 12-4

The Chipola Indians (38-13) beat Alabama Southern on Wednesday 12-4 at Chipola College.

The Indians took the lead in the third inning and held on for the victory. Chipola went up for good on an RBI single by Reynaldo Rivera off Jarred Scott, scoring Michael Hickman. An RBI single by Rivera scored Michael Hickman to give the Indians the lead for good.

Maurice Cooley racked up four RBIs on two hits. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Kevin Craft (1-2) got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over two innings. Craft struck out two, walked one and gave up one hit.

The Indians added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. A double by Jose Caballero ignited the offense, bringing home Wood Myers. That was followed up by Cooley's single, plating Caballero.

After a quick strike from Alabama Southern, the Chipola Indians responded with five runs in the seventh. The Chipola Indians scored on a two-run double by Myers and a three-run home run by Cooley.

Chipola will play two games this Friday, May 6 against St. Johns River (5pm CST) and LSU Eunice (8pm CST).
