Slow Start Dooms Indians

Chipola (34-10, 13-2) fell 17-7 to Tallahassee at Tallahassee on Monday.

Michael Rojas had two extra-base hits for the Chipola Indians. He doubled in the second and fourth innings.

Tallahassee easily handled the Chipola Indians pitching as six hitters combined for 15 hits, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Addison Reed (6-2) took the loss for the Chipola Indians. He allowed seven runs in zero innings, walked three and struck out none.

Tallahassee went up for good in the first, scoring eight runs on two doubles, a solo home run by Josh Nothdorft, an RBI single by Deyvid Silva.

Two runs in the top of the second helped the Chipola Indians close their deficit to 8-2. A two-run double by Michael Rojas fueled the Chipola Indians' comeback. But, Brooks Buckler got Jay Estes to ground out to end the inning.

Two runs in the top of the third helped the Indians close their deficit to 9-4. A sacrifice fly by Maurice Cooley and an RBI single by Reynaldo Rivera sparked the rally. The threat came to an end when Buckler finally got Keiner Colmenarez to ground out.

One run in the top of the fourth helped close the deficit to 11-5. An RBI single by Estes triggered the comeback. Finally, Buckler induced an inning-ending ground out from Jose Caballero.

Two runs in the top of the fifth helped close their deficit to 14-7. An RBI single by Colmenarez and an RBI double by Franklin Van Gurp gave the Indians life. 

Chipola plays at home vs Tallahassee on Wednesday, April 13. First-pitch is scheduled for 5pm CST.
