Chipola Wins in Extras, 7-6

It took 10 innings, but the Chipola Indians (32-9, 11-1) managed to put away Pensacola State 7-6 on Wednesday at Pensacola State.

With the score tied at six in the tenth inning, Keiner Colmenarez came to the plate and singled, plating Michael Hickman.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to seven lead changes in the game.

Tyler Osik had two extra-base hits for the Chipola Indians. He homered in the third inning, doubled in the fifth inning, and singled in the ninth inning.

Ryan Shauger (2-0) got the win for the Chipola Indians. He allowed two runs over 2 2/3 innings in relief. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered three hits.

Closer Kevin Craft put away the final three outs to record his second save of the season.

The Indians pushed one run across in each of the third, fifth and tenth. In the third, the Chipola Indians scored on a solo home run by Osik.

Chipola brought home two runs in the sixth inning, and matched that run total in the ninth. In the sixth, the Indians scored on a fielder's choice, plating Jose Caballero.

Chipola will start the second half of Panhandle Conference play Friday, April 8 at Gulf Coast. First-pitch is scheduled for 2pm CST.
