Indians slug their way to 12-5 win

After four days and two rain out games, the Chipola Indians (28-9, 7-1) beat Northwest Florida State on Tuesday 12-5 at Chipola College in Game 2 of the series.

In the top of the first, Northwest Florida State grabbed the early lead, 3-0. A triple by Hunter Tackett, plating Mike Salvatore and Mack Hathcock started the inning off. NWF added more runs when Tackett scored on an RBI single by Taylor Lane.

Chipola bounced back with 2 runs in the bottom half off a Michael Hickman 1-out double. 

NWF scored 2 more in the top of the third, but that was it for their offense the rest of the day.

The Indians scored five runs in the fourth on the Chipola Indians scored in the fourth on a solo home run by Michael Hickman, an RBI double by Keiner Colmenarez, a two-run home run by Michael Rojas, and an RBI single by Jose Caballero.

The Chipola Indians increased their lead with four runs in the sixth. Myles Edwards's double got things going, scoring Tyler Osik, Michael Rojas and Jay Estes.

Bowden Francis (7-0) recorded the win. He allowed five runs over 5 2/3 innings. Francis struck out five, walked three and gave up eight hits.

Addison Reed came in relief, throwing the final 3 1/3 innings. Northwest Florida State managed just one hit off of Reed, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his outing.

Michael Hickman racked up four RBIs on three hits for the Chipola Indians.

Myles Edwards was 2-4 with 3 RBIs off the bench. 

Chipola is back in action on Thursday, March 31 at Northwest Florida. First-pitch in Niceville is scheduled for 5pm.
