Darton State out slugs Chipola

Eleven hits weren't enough for the Chipola Indians as it lost a shootout, 13-10, to Darton State on Wednesday at Darton State.

Keiner Colmenarez racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Chipola Indians. He homered in the fourth inning.

The bottom of the second saw Darton State take an early lead, 2-0. Cody Ilgenfritz kicked things off for Darton State with a single. Kendall Herronsingled, scoring Justin Henle and Ilgenfritz.

Darton State survived the Chipola Indians' surge and put up two runs of its own in the third. Darton State scored on a sacrifice fly by Landon Crowder and a walk by Mike Huggins.

Darton State went up for good in the fourth, scoring three runs on an error and a two-run single by Herron.

After pushing across one run in the top of the fifth, the Chipola Indians faced just a 7-5 deficit. An RBI double by Maurice Cooley gave the Chipola Indians life. The Chipola Indians threat came to an end when Rabon Martin finally got Tyler Osik to ground out.

Darton State quickly matched the Chipola Indians' strong inning with a five-run inning of its own in the fifth. Darton State scored on an RBI single by Henle, an RBI single by Landon Crowder, a two-run triple by Ilgenfritz, and a walk by Herron.

One run in the top of the eighth helped the Chipola Indians close their deficit to 12-6. A solo home run by Michael Rojas sparked the Chipola Indians' rally. Finally, Dylan Price got Colmenarez to ground out to end the threat.

After a quick strike from the Chipola Indians, Darton State responded with one run in the eighth. Darton State scored on an RBI single by Henle.

A four-run ninth inning helped bring the Chipola Indians within three. An RBI single by Wood Myers, an RBI single by Te'Kwaan Whyte, an RBI double by Ryan Shauger, and a passed ball fueled the Chipola Indians' comeback. Darton State closed the game out when Michael Reddick got Hickman and Rojas to strike out.
