Chipola Survives Comeback

Chipola Survives Comeback

The bats were busy at Gordon State on Wednesday, and when the dust cleared the Chipola Indians had a 13-12 win over Gordon State in 10 innings.

On a cold and windy afternoon, the teams combined for 24 hits, including 10 extra base hits.

After being up 9-1 after 3 innings, the Indians were able to hold off Gordon State as the Highlanders comeback came up short.

The bottom of the first saw Gordon State take an early lead, 1-0.

The game's last lead went to the Chipola Indians thanks to a second inning rally that saw six runs cross the plate on an error, a groundout by Ty Russ, and two singles.

The Chipola Indians built upon their lead with three runs in the third. A double by Jacob Silverstein ignited the offense, bringing home Jay Estes. That was followed up by Wood Myers's double, bringing home Silverstein and Russ.

The Chipola Indians matched their two-run seventh inning with two more in the eighth. In the seventh, the Chipola Indians scored on a two-run home run by Jose Caballero, scoring Myers.

Wood Myers had two doubles, while Caballero was 3-6 with a homerun.
