Indians Battle to another 9th Inning Win

The Indians took the last of seven lead changes in a back-and-forth affair against Walters State, securing a 7-6 victory on Saturday at Chipola College.

Chipola finally managed to grab the lead after a strong ninth inning. An error scored Tyler Osik and gave the Chipola Indians the lead for good.

Jose Caballero put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Chipola Indians.

Franklin Van Gurp got the win in relief for the Chipola Indians. Van Gurp pitched two innings and allowed two runs.

Wood Myers, Caballero and Jacob Silverstein helped lead the Chipola Indians. They combined for seven hits and four RBIs.

Garren Jackson took the loss for Walters State. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.

The bottom of the first saw the Chipola Indians take an early lead, 2-0. Caballero tripled to ignite the Chipola Indians' offense, before Myers doubled, bringing home Caballero. The Chipola Indians added more runs when Myers scored on a groundout by Michael Hickman.

Walters State pushed across two runs in both the fifth inning and the eighth. In the fifth, Walters State scored on an RBI double by Ramon Osuna, scoringColie Currie.

It didn't take long for the Chipola Indians to respond as they scored four runs of their own in the seventh. The Chipola Indians scored on an RBI single by Osik, an RBI single by Silverstein, and a two-run home run by Caballero.
