Chipola vs Tallahassee postponed until March 3; sets up big games on Saturday at The Milt

MARIANNA, Fla. – Out of an abundance of caution due to the lingering icy conditions on the roadways connecting the members of the Panhandle Conference, the league's Athletic Directors have postponed this week's mid-week games until Monday, March 3.

Chipola was scheduled to travel to take on Tallahassee State College on Wednesday, January 22, and Northwest Florida was headed to Gulf Coast. Earlier this week it was announced that the schools would meet on Thursday, January 23. However, due to concerns of the safety of the student-athletes, coaches, staff, and fans, traveling to the games, it was decided to move the games to the end of season.

The postponement guarantees a matchup of two undefeated teams on Saturday night at the Milton H. Johnson Center. Owners of the longest active win streak in NJCAA D1 Women's Basketball streak at 20 games, the #6 Lady Indians (20-0; 2-0) will host #1 Northwest Florida (18-0; 2-0), at 5:15 PM.

Following the women's game, the #17 Chipola Indians (16-4; 1-1) and the #8 Northwest Florida State Raiders (15-4; 1-1) will meet for the first time this season. It is also the first time the two teams have met since Chipola defeated NWF, 50-48, in an instant classic between the two rivals at the 2024 FCSAA/Region VIII Championship game inside Raider Arena. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 PM

Saturday night is also Jackson Hospital Night at The Milt. Employees of the hospital and one guest will be admitted free to Chipola's games on Saturday against Northwest Florida State College. Employees should present their employee badge at the front door of the Milton H. Johnson Center for free admission.
