MBB: Pensacola State College Thanksgiving Classic Schedule

PENSACOLA, Florida - Monday through Wednesday of this week, the #16 ranked Chipola Indians (6-1) will join five other teams that are ranked in the latest NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball Poll (November 18, 2024 poll) in Hartsell Arena foo the Pensacola State Thanksgiving Classic.

All five members of the Panhandle Conference will be in action along with #2 Panola College (5-0), #3 Trinity Valley CC (5-0), #4 Jones College (6-0), Lamar State College - Port Arthur (3-2), and Daytona State College (4-3). Joining Chipola in the Rankings from the Panhandle are #18 Tallahassee State College (7-0) and #19 Northwest Florida State College (5-2). Gulf Coast State College (7-0) is receiving votes and should find themselves in the Top 25 when the Poll is released on Monday afternoon. Also receiving votes is Daytona State, who began the season at #3 but fell out of the Top 25 after dropping three consecutive games.

Chipola will open at 3 PM on Monday against the Seahawks of Lamar State College - Port Arthur out of Texas.

On Tuesday, the Indians will take on #4 Jones College at 1 PM. The last time Chipola and the Bobcats played was on December 11, 2021 at the Milton H. Johnson Healt Center when the visitors defeated the Indians, 80-78. It was Chipola's first loss at home under head coach Donnie Tyndall, breaking a 20-game home win streak.

A familiar face will be on the opposite bench when the Indians take on #3 Trinity Valley Community College on Wednesday at 3 PM. The Cardinals are coached by former Chipola and Northwest Florida State head coach, Greg Heiar.
