#10 Chipola Indians (2-1) vs. Copiah-Lincoln CC, 6 PM
RECAP: After a dismal first half on Friday that sent the Indians to the locker room trailing 32-20 to East Central Community College on Friday afternoon, Chipola pulled off one of its biggest second-half comebacks in the Donnie Tyndall era.
Markel Freeman had a career-high 23 points. all in the second half, to lead the Indians back from a 20 point deficit in the second half.
In the first half, it appeared sophomore Antonio Baker was the only Chipola player on the court as he scored 14 of the Indians' 20 first half points. Only two other players scored in the first two minutes with Matthew Webster adding 5 and Abraham Ibezimakor connecting on one of two free throws.
Things didn't get much better in the early going of the second half. Down by 20, Chipola used an 8-0 run to pull within 12 with just over ten minutes remaining in the game.
The Indians' defense along with Freeman's hot shooting from behind the arc, pulled Chipola to within two, 48-46, with five minutes remaining in the game.
After Antonio Baker tied the game with a five footer over the Warrior's defense, Markel Freeman broke away to lay the ball and give Chipola a 50-48 lead with 3:19 remaining.
The Warriors would not go away and, with 19.2 seconds left on the clock, held a 56-52 lead following a pair of free throws.
Baker hit a three to pull within one and Chipola fouled East Central to send them to the line with ten seconds left on the clock. After the Warriors made one of two from the line, Chipola dribbled the ball down and called timeout in front of their bench.
Trailing 57-55 and only a thirty second timeout remaining, Coach Tyndall used it to draw up a play that would send the game into overtime. Baker received the inbounds pass and drove down the lane to lay it in at the horn.
Chipola's defense finally wore down the Warriors in overtime. The Indians pulled away and took their second victory of the season, 66-59, over East Central.
